Join the GW Occupational Therapy program’s Equity Committee for a vital session dedicated to preparing the next generation of healthcare providers for inclusive practice.

We are proud to feature Danielle Centi, DrOT, OTR/L, FAOTA, CBIS, TIE (@Dr.D_TheSexOT), who will lead a deep dive into the essentials of gender-affirming care alongside current GW Doctor of Occupational Therapy students. This in-person event moves beyond theory to provide practical, clinical tools for everyday practice.

Why Attend?

  • Get hands-on advice from a specialist in the field.
  • Connect with peers who are committed to equitable healthcare.
  • Discuss the lived experiences of LGBTQ members in the hit TV drama series ‘Pose’
  • Master the nuances of inclusive dialogue and communication with patients.
  • Learn how to support activities of daily living (ADLs) through a gender-affirming lens with assistive devices and equipment tailored to client needs.
  • Walk away with a toolkit of resources to support your professional development and patient advocacy.

What is occupational therapy (OT)?

Occupational therapy helps anyone–from infants to adults–make their life more meaningful by increasing their abilities to complete functional tasks for their daily activities within their environment.

OTs consider not only a client's physical capabilities, but also their mental and social capabilities. They can be found working in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, at-homes, in communities, and more. OTs are known to be flexible, compassionate, and empathetic problem solvers who love the creative arts, social sciences, and natural sciences.
