Marina Bien, OTD' 25 Begins AOTA Neurology Fellowship Program

Marina Bien Post-Grad Fellowship

Marina Bien, OTD' 25, OTR, has been selected to participate in the American Occupational Therapy Association's Neurology Fellowship Program at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital in Alexandria, Virginia.

“My first week has been an exciting introduction to this unique program, and it already feels like a supportive environment where I will continue to grow as a clinician and build my clinical expertise in neuro-rehabilitation. Even in just a few days, I’ve seen how intentionally the fellowship blends structured education, hands-on patient care, and evidence-based practice,” said Bien.

The Neurologic Occupational Therapy Fellowship Program at the Inova Inpatient Rehabilitation Center offers didactic education, interdisciplinary engagement, extensive training on how to provide the highest standard of patient care, and the opportunity to engage with services across the continuum of care, including neurological outpatient therapy, wheelchair / seating clinic, peer mentor programs, and concussion clinic.

“Marina graduated from our inaugural class at GW and is already setting a course to change the trajectory of the profession,” said Roger Ideishi, JD, OT/L, FAOTA, professor and program director of the Doctor of Occupational Therapy program.

“What excites me most about the fellowship are the experiential opportunities to learn alongside clinical experts, combined with the program’s strong emphasis on mentorship, professional development, leadership, and teaching — which is especially meaningful given my future goal of working in academia,” said Bien.

“I’m really grateful for all the support and mentorship I’ve received from GW; the guidance and education I received laid a strong foundation for this next chapter, and I’m thankful to be part of the GW community,” said Bien.

Upon completion of the fellowship, Bien will be eligible to sit for the board certification in physical rehabilitation.
