Sadie Richardson Tapped to Serve as Assistant Professor

Sadie Richardson OTD, MOT, OTRL

Sadie Richardson, OTD, MOT, OTR/L, will join the GW occupational therapy program as an assistant professor in the Department of Health, Human Function, and Rehabilitation Sciences at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences.

Richardson brings 19 years of diverse clinical experience, which includes working at a trauma level 1 hospital where she specialized in spinal cord injury rehabilitation, and a nationally renowned top 10 oncology hospital, balancing responsibilities between outpatient and acute care. Her research interests include occupational therapy’s role within early intervention and mental health services for patients with cancer.

Richardson is an AOTA committee member of the Rehabilitation and Disability Special Interest Section and recently led a discussion on promoting interprofessional collaboration across practice settings at the AOTA Inspire 2024 Annual Conference & Expo in Florida.

“Sadie is very cognizant of the challenges of occupational therapy service delivery. She will serve as a tremendous asset to students to help them leverage their leadership skills and identify resources to overcome these challenges,” said program director and professor, Roger Ideishi, JD, OT/L, FAOTA.

Most recently, Richardson served as adjunct instructor at Baylor University and previously a teaching fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions.

Sadie Richardson, OTD, MOT, OTR/L, will begin serving in this new role at GW in May 2024. She will teach the following courses: Occupational Therapy for Mental Health, Group Dynamics, and Doctoral Experiences I-III.
